The 1975 will release their highly-anticipated second album I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it on 26 February through Dirty Hit/Polydor. I like it when you sleep… is the follow-up to the quartet’s million-selling self-titled debut. It is a bold and brilliant record made up of infectious pop hooks and sprawling electro sonics, an ambitious stride forward for one of the UK’s most exciting young bands. It will be preceded by the gospel-tinged The Sound, which follows the hysterically-received Love Me and UGH!. “In 2016, everything has been done,” says frontman Matty Healy. “You just have to try and do it better. My generation consumes music in this completely non-linear way and we reflect that, we create how we consume.” The 1975 have had the sort of breakthrough that only happens once a decade. Healy, Adam Hann (guitar), Ross MacDonald (bass) and George Daniel (drums) formed at school on the outskirts of Manchester ten years ago. After years of honing their sound, 2013’s debut album revealed a band who could blend accessible and anthemic choruses with an artistic aesthetic. It was a record where indie-pop grooves and alt R&B atmospherics sat seamlessly next to each other. A mass audience connected with indelible tracks such as Chocolate, Girls, Sex and Robbers and their tales of adolescent recklessness. The group toured the world, playing sold-out shows from Kuala Lumpur to San Francisco. All these experiences feed into the band’s second album which was recorded in Los Angeles and produced by Healy and Daniel alongside production collaborator Mike Crossey. It distils their love of 80s sonics into something that sounds impossibly now, a record that shifts between shimmying guitar grooves (She’s American, Love Me), experimental electronic soundscapes (I like it when you sleep…, Please Be Naked) and cascading, adventurous pop songs (If I Believe You, Lostmyhead, The Sound) whilst always sounding part of the same whole. “Why create one type of music when nobody consumes one type of music?” says Healy. “The idea of rules in art is completely farcical.” The 1975 have made a record that captures the exhilarating feeling of falling in love and the devastation of breaking-up and all the fun and drama in between. They have a cherished mix of unlimited ambition and the rarefied talent to back it up. “We’re like brothers, we really are. We don’t know anyone who is as close with their siblings as we are we each other because from age 13 to now we’ve been in the same room together,” says Healy. This spirit is at the heart of their glorious second album. It will be one of the most important releases of 2016. The 1975 have set a benchmark that will be hard to follow.

In this final installment of his internationally bestselling three-part memoir-including The Hacienda and Unknown Pleasures-British rocker Peter Hook focuses on the 1980s New Wave and Dance Punk scene and the rise of one of the most influential bands of the Second British Invasion: New Order. 1980. Resurrected from the ashes of Joy Division after the suicide of its lead singer, Ian Curtis, New Order would become one most critically acclaimed and important bands of the decade and beyond. With their hits "Bizarre Love Triangle", "Perfect Kiss", and "Blue Monday"-the biggest-selling 12-inch single of all time-Peter Hook and company quickly rose to the top of the alternative music scene. Widely regarded as the godfathers of electronic dance music, their sound would influence Moby, The Chemical Brothers, The Postal Service, The Killers, and other acts that followed in their wake. Hook tells the complete, unvarnished story of New Order's founding and evolution; the band's experiences in the New York City club scene and rapid rise to international fame, its impact on house music, techno, and rave; and its eventual rancorous dissolution. Full of Hook's "gleefully profane" (Entertainment Weekly) humor and vivid, witty storytelling, Substance is the most important and certainly the most controversial part of his story, emanating with drugs, booze, and sex. Complete with timelines, discographies, gigographies and track-by-track analysis, and exclusive photographs and archival images from Hook's personal collection, it is the definitive, comprehensive history of New Order and a compelling snapshot of the '80s cultural scene in all its neon-hued glory.

Although space is a virtual vacuum, this does not mean there is no sound. Sound exists as electromagnetic vibrations. The specially designed instruments aboard the space probes were designed to pick up and record electromagnetic vibrations. This information, when sent back to Earth and decoded, can be heard as intriguing and beautiful sounds from space. The real music of the spheres. The sounds you hear are from decoded information on interactions of the solar ionic wind, the planet's magnetosphere, plasma wave phenomena and interactions between the planet's ionosphere and magnetosphere. These vibration frequency recordings are all within the range of human hearing (20-20,000 cycles per second). These recordings have been specially processed, filtered, and spacially mastered in 3-D sound with frequencies for achieving deep states of relaxation. In order to achieve the best possible quality in audio reproduction, these tapes are processed on special high-end chrome tape, Coherence Technology™ for removing all extraneous noise, HX Pro for super high fidelity, 3-D sound processing using the BASE System™, and our own BMR Processing™.The epic space flights of Voyager I and II soar across our Solar System. This unique series of recordings is created from original Voyager recordings of the electromagnetic "voices" of the planets and moons in our Solar System. Although space is a virtual vacuum, this does not mean there is no sound in space. Sound does exist in electronic vibrations. The specially designed instruments on board the Voyagers performed special experiments to pick up and record these vibrations, all within the range of human hearing. Hear the beautful songs of the planets. The complex interactions of the cosmic plasma of the universe, charged electromagnetic particles from the solar wind, planetary magnetosphere, rings and moons create vibration "soundscapes" which are at once utterly alien and deeply familiar to the human ear. DIE SOLDATEN - ZIMMERMANN

Die Soldaten is one of the musical landmarks of the twentieth century. Demanding massive musical forces, the score was so advanced for its time it was deemed impossible to perform by Cologne Opera, which had commissioned the work in 1958. The company eventually premièred a somewhat simplified orchestration in 1965. Its composer, Bernd Alois Zimmermann, lived through the collective nightmare of the Second World War and poured his passionate hatred of the culture of militarism which caused it into this extraordinary work. Calling for huge resources and inventive staging, involving video, electronic tapes and simultaneous action, this revolutionary work, based on a story by the eighteenth century author/poet by Lenz, combines music, language, dance, film, jazz, pantomime and circus to tell the story of the degradation of a young girl in the hands of a corrupt and egotistical military aristocracy. It is an intimate story about ordinary people, yet its theme has resonances which not only made a statement about the entire post-war generation, but offer a metaphor for the modern world. Harry Kupfer's Stuttgart Opera production was praised for its reinforcement of Zimmermann's reputation as a composer of vast stage and musical resources and for revealing a work full of compassion and humanity. Zimmermann's rejection of the classical unities allows for several courses of dramatic action to be told at the same time. Past, present and future merge in harrowing tableaux of the monstrous dehumanising effects of war.

Second Summer of Love

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Second Summer of Love is a name given to the period in 1988-89 in Britain, during the rise of Acid House music and the euphoric explosion of unlicensed ecstasy-fuelled rave parties. The term generally refers to the summers of both 1988 and 1989 when electronic dance music and the prevalence of the drug ecstasy fuelled an explosion in youth culture culminating in mass free parties and the era of the rave. LSD was also widely available and popular again[citation needed]. The music of this era fused dance beats with a psychedelic, 1960s flavour, and the dance culture drew parallels with the hedonism and freedom of the Summer of Love in San Francisco two decades earlier. Similarities with the Sixties included fashions such as Tie-dye. The smiley logo is synonymous with this period in the UK.
